PALM SUNDAY_CN Lễ Lá

PALM SUNDAY
“Take and eat ; this is my body.”
Mt 16: 26-35

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body."

Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom."
When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial
Then Jesus told them, "This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written:
" 'I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."
Peter replied, "Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will."
"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times."
But Peter declared, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the other disciples said the same.

denial: statement saying that sth is not true: sự chối từ, phủ nhận
to fall away: to give in to temptation; to sin: sa ngã
to strike: to hit, to beat: đánh
on account of: because of: vì, bởi vì
shepherd: person who takes care of sheep: người chăn chiên, mục tử
flock: a group of (birds, sheep): đàn (chim, chiên)
to scatter: to be moved in different ways: bị phân tán, tan đàn xẻ nghé
very: (used when you are talking about a particular person): chính (cái này); ngay (hôm đó…). Ex: This very night Ngay đêm nay. That very person: chính hắn
rooster: adult male chicken: gà trống
to crow: /kroh/ to make a cry/a sound as a rooster does: (gà) gáy
to disown: to say that one no longer to be connected with sb: từ (con, cha…), không nhận (ai làm con…)
to declare: say publicly: tuyên bố, công bố
